map notes
I wanted to make a map for the competition, but then I was reminded that Terraria 1.2 came out so it ended up a bit rushed.
It flows a little better as Dustman or -girl.

This one is about spiders.

the use of triggers is legit and the ending is very well done, but there are quite a few parts, gameplay-wise, that seem pretty awkward.

:O
Really imaginative!
I had problems in some parts (the slope after the steward and the series of leafblocks to go down), very difficult for me. I'm curious to see some fast times.
Anyway I really liked it, great map!

Can we just agree that setting up blocks to punish heavying certain directions, especially in maps where the dust is very difficult to distinguish from the rest of the stage, is something we SHOULDN'T EVER DO?

I like this map but please stop thinking that's a good idea.

i think that makes the game more challenging but not necessarily annoying, but yeah, it is kinda annoying

It can sometimes make things more challenging. I can recall one map where it did (Ante Difficult).

In this case? It's pointless, all it does is make you miss an SS and have no idea why until you watch the replay carefully.

Even when it does make things difficult, it feels like the mapmaker is lying to you, or trying to trick you.

The few parts where you have to direct the heavy attack are quite obvious and don't require tricks.
Imho they aren't a problem in this map.

I'm going to disagree. It adds nothing to this level to have them except a potential annoyance. It's not harder, it doesn't require a different approach, it just requires pressing a different arrow key if you happen to notice that the blocks aren't spiky, which is made more difficult by the aesthetic of the level.

While I don't find it too serious in this map, I do agree that this is a practice map makers should look to avoid.

Is now a good time to mention that I hate dustblocks?

More checkpoints would be nice, and I don't think I'm going to try for an SS.  That said, I really liked this map.  The spider trigger was well done.

Really awesome visually, wow. The dustblocks were really painful though. =/

So it wasn't just me that kept breaking through them or going past them?

The worse part for me at least was the climb bit, I continually either jumped too early or late and left a block behind on like 50%+ of my runs.

heh, was gonna do a similar thing but I would've had a skull fade in at the end instead, but now it's been done.
