map notes
Oh, wow. Thor, that sure was quick. Prize on the way :D Two more to go!

This map took me a little longer to make than Incyanity, but I think it was totally worth it.
I took feedback from a lot of you guys into account... such as making segments less random, adding in more checkpoints, making the level Dustkid-friendly, and so on. Also, no Giga walls!!! :D Every section of the level has been SSed with all 4 characters. But, yet again, I'm not good enough to do them all from start to finish.
There is an easter egg in the map, as well as a hidden any% run!

A big thank you again to my three lovely playtesters! Your feedback is invaluable <3

I may be awarding prizes to the first couple of SSers again... So get crackin'! :3

Finally. Any puns combining color and difficulty, such as Rediculous and Incyanity would be greatly appreciated!! :D

EDIT: Reuploaded to fix a camera bug. Also, fixed a glitch where you would lose your whole combo. And, a part in the map where you could spikejump to make the whole thing SOOOOOO much easier. Thanks for pointing that bit out ABoss!

Once again I don't see the fun in these levels. So many parts here require such crazy precision that they might as well be random.
Magnetbrainn

What parts?
Seriously, the level isn't supposed to be crazy precise to the point of frame-perfect keystrokes. And it really isn't.

The second one, I definitely agree with you, I should have put a normal platform at the bottom there. Soz.

The other two, they're easy once you learn how to do it.

Actually i'd say that i only agree with the 3rd one after playing it as much as i have. 3rd bit is way 2 random. other 2 you can learn to spam your way thru.

To anyone who has or will complain about difficulty: THIS IS A LEVEL MADE TO BE DIFFICULT if you're going to complain about it DON'T DOWNLOAD IT

there's a lot of good ideas here. but i think there's really no reason to make the level THIS fucking hard/annoying. an extra 1-tile gap here, a few more platforms there, and this goes from a "fuck this dumb shit" level to a "wow this is really challenging me but i shall rise to the challenge" level. the former is honestly not very playable. certainly not enjoyable. the latter is definitely both.

Well, sorry that you don't like it man. But still, my SD has proven the fact that the level IS playable. And, in all reality, I didn't even die that much.

The level wasn't made with easiness in mind, it was made with (relative) fairness. And if I can have three well respected runners think its fair, then yeah.

And I started making this series with a vision of "high difficulty, yet enjoyment". So it's kinda shit to hear you say that :(

dude the majority of the ppl commenting here don't think that it's a fair level at all. people way better than me.

i totally understand what you're trying to achieve with this level; i just think you overshot it.

I'll try and make the next levels fairer to the player. But the thing is, when I try to do that, I make the level 3 or 4 flames, and 5 is what I'm after. Guess I'll just have to find a balance. I may get another playtester...

Cheers for the feedback though!~

as a tip for difficult levels, I found teaching a hard or unusual rythmn difficult enough for people but still fair. I don't mean an irregular rythmn. I mean a rythmn but one that is not used/practiced into the hands. Also, lots of extremely quick button presses is bad. The reason the climb is hard, is because you need to jump and jump again in about 6 frames to not die. That's too over the top to have to do multiple times. 2 times max, and that's if you wanna make people grind it endlessly.

Requiring a super for the final jump is really dumb. Esp when there are parts you can mess up future parts at without knowing. Hit 1 wrong prism thru a wall and you HAVE to super to make it. Then you can't super at the end.
Magnetbrainn
said Jun 9, 2013
Nope. I made it possible so that you wouldn't need to use your second super until the end.
Jvcpro
said Jun 9, 2013
Please re-read. I didn't say you needed to use it the CORRECT way, however if you accidentally mishit a prism and make it to the next checkpoint you lack aircharges and are forced to super to get there. This happened to me on 2-3 runs and as this level has no entertainment value i didn't feel any reason to give it another shot.

The part with the dustblocks that you have to traverse the spike tunnel with is just stupid, it feels like you ran out of ideas to make a difficult map so you just threw in things to piss people off. Every single time I attempt that part (and mind you the beginning was easy for me) I clear the dustblock in the first slot which makes my character fall down too low and I hit the spikes. Every. Single. Time. To be honest I like a challenge but this is just plain stupid. Try taking some of the ideas in the maps you've made (the difficult parts that people don't hate) and fine-tune them into a level that combines difficulty (you already have this) with enjoy-ability (you don't have this). I mean, correct me if I am wrong, but I seriously doubt you make these levels with the sole intention of pissing people off.
Magnetbrainn
said Jun 9, 2013
Why do you think I just threw that in to piss people off? I personally think it's a brilliant idea that I haven't seen used yet. And, I'm working on 2 maps for this series at the moment. One which is easier for lower level players (so that they can say "I finished one of the Terror Difficults to an SS!), and another which is sort of a continuation of the series. But yeah, I'll try and make the levels more enjoyable in terms of gameplay (I personally find difficulty enjoyable, haha). And if I wanted to make these levels with my only intention being to piss people off, I would have uploaded an earlier draft of this one. Or put more giga pillars in.

Yeah, I found a work around. zzz

How do you consistently do those upward hallways with the spikes next to them? Just spam jump? Time it? Its one of those parts that I just can not do without it feeling like I just lucked out. Those parts frustrate the hell out of me.
Magnetbrainn
said Jun 9, 2013
Is it the vertical climb with the 3 prisms & the spikes?
Seight
said Jun 9, 2013
Yeah, similar to the one in incyanity.
Magnetbrainn
said Jun 9, 2013
Ah. What you do is hit the prism at the very bottom, then jump onto the wall. Just before you cling onto the wall, hit the prism. Wall climb, then do a really quick double jump, and hit the prism before you cling to the wall again. Repeat.

Those are honestly fairly learnable, However the bit right after them is ridiculously luck based because if you happen to hit 2 of the dust bits with one light at last 2 you can't make it to the longer one. The upwards prisms bit is def not random tho. I've proven it to myself if nobody else.
Seight
said Jun 14, 2013
Yeah I'm just bad at them, some people are bad at gigawalls, some at petablocks, but for me its spikywallnexttoyouprismaboveyou bits...that may need renaming.

As far as the random blocks, I agree, its worse for Dustgirl though as there are a couple parts like that because of how low her neutral light attack hits. You can hit those blocks early in a few different places in the level and there is not much you can do about it, then you just kinda die. That's one of the main reasons I just said screw it to this level lol.

In all honesty, i would probably go for the SS if it wasn't so stupidly annoying trying to keep your combo up right before the one slope boostey part. I can't seem to land in it right, and i don't die. Just no dust to keep combo up... This level was in all honesty MUCH more enjoyable then the last however i still feel that certain bits are a bit unreasonable and the combo problem makes it not worth the effort.
