It is so nerve wracking knowing that I have to have a good ledge cancel when I'm on a good run :P

To beat the level, no, you can juggle the gargoyle up and use it to get higher, if you land on or climb up just the top block, the second block will stay under you to fall onto.  That is terribly slow though.
