It's a known issue with the fog triggers, you have to use two identical fog triggers overlapping.  Some kind of glitch.  You'll want to save that till the end because if you edit one of the fog triggers later on during the process, you might forget to edit the other one.  Once the map is done, just copy your fog trigger once.  Open the map to see it yourself.

feels timelocked with not much room for creativity, but flows well

My main issues would be that there isn't much room for routing and the visuals are rather plain, but past that I had a blast with this level. The Roller Coaster part near the beginning is very fun and satisfying to pull off :)
